Dr. José Miguel JUAN ZORNOZA is teaching at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain, since 1988. He is accredited as Full Professor by the Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) and by the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU).

Along with his colleagues Dr. M. Hernández-Pajares and Dr. J. Sanz, he created the Research Group of Astronomy and Geomatics (gAGE) in the UPC.

Its current research interests are in the area of GNSS data processing Algorithms for High Accuracy GNSS Navigation and GNSS ionospheric sounding, as well as Satellite and Ground Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS and GBAS). In the context of the gAGE/UPC group, he has been developing and testing new algorithms for Wide Area High Accuracy Navigation, initially with GPS (2-frequency) and afterwards with GALILEO and GPS-III (3-frequencies) systems, which lead to the Wide Area RTK (WARTK) technique.

He has been Principal Investigator in several national and international R+D projects. He has more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and more than 150 works in meeting proceedings, with three best paper awards from the US Institute of Navigation. He is co-authoring 15 patents on GNSS (12 international linked to WARTK) and three books on GNSS Data Processing.

As a result of the gAGE/UPC research group activities in GNSS, and together with his colleagues Dr. Hernández-Pajares and Dr. Sanz, he has founded the spin-off company gAGE-NAV S.L.
